Starbucks barista asks officers to leave, says a customer ‘did not feel safe’

THAT CAUGHT OUR EYE OUT IN ARIZONA. THE TEMPE POLICE OFFICER’S SORBS ASSOCIATION SAID WE DON’T APPRECIATE STARBUCKS ASKING OUR COPS TO LEAVE YOUR ESTABLISHMENT ON THE 4th OF JULY. SEVERAL OF THE COPS ARE VETERANS WHO FOUGHT FOR THIS COUNTRY, #ZERO RESPECT. SOME PEOPLE IN THE STARBUCKS DIDN’T LIKE THE OFFICERS BEING THERE.>>ONE CUSTOMER DIDN’T FEEL SAFE BECAUSE POLICE OFFICERS WERE EATING APPARENTLY IN HIS OR HER LINE OF SIGHT. THEY WERE EITHER ASKED TO MOVE TO A DIFFERENT PART OF THE STARBUCKS OR LEAVE ALL TOGETHER BECAUSE ONE CUSTOMER WAS TRIGGERED BY THE SIGHT OF A POLICE OFFICER.>>THAT’S CRAZY. THE TEMPE PUT OUT A STATEMENT, SAYING THE TREATMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY WORKERS COULD NOT BE MORE DISHEARTENING. MAKING SUCH A REQUEST WAS OFFENSIVE. SUCH TREATMENT HAS BECOME ALL TOO COMMON IN 2019. I THINK THAT’S TRUE. PEOPLE SHOULD BE GRATEFUL. I WOULD BE LEAP TO HE I WOULD BE LEAP HO HE I WOULD BE LEAP HAPHE I WOULD BE LEAP HAPPY I WOULD BE HEAP HAPPY I WOULD BE HAPP HAPPY I WOULD BE HAPPYHAPPY I WOULD BE HAPPY TPPY I WOULD BE HAPPY TOPY I WOULD BE HAPPY TO SEE POLICE ANYWHERE. I FEEL MUCH SAFER WHEN I SEE THEM IN ANY ESTABLISHMENT.>>PETE BUTTIGIEG SAID HE WANTS TO GET TO THE PLACE WHERE EVERYONE HAS THE SAME REACTION WHEN THEY SEE A POLICE OFFICER. THEY PUT THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE FOR YOU EVERY DAY. THEY WERE PROBABLY HAVING A CUP OF COFFEE. WE GOT A STATEMENT FROM STARBUCKS. WE HAVE REACHED OUT TO UNDERSTAND BETTER WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED AND APOLOGIZE FOR ANY MISUNDERSTANDING OR INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR THAT MAY HAVE TAKEN PLACE.

  1. The police always asks for the public to withhold judgement when a video or story comes out about them. So we should do the same here. As cops always say, there is more to the story.

  2. Nope. I will punish Starbucks for at least a year. Yesterday we were walking distance to Starbucks but we drove 5 miles to caribou coffee instead.

  3. Only criminals feel unsafe around the Police.

  4. Starbucks Corporation is an American coffee company and coffeehouse chain.

Starbucks was founded in Seattle, Washington in 1971.

As of early 2019, the company operates over 30,000 locations worldwide.

Starbucks is considered the main representative of "second wave coffee", initially distinguishing itself from other coffee-serving venues in the US by taste, quality, and customer experience, while popularizing darkly roasted coffee.

Since the 2000s, third wave coffee makers have targeted quality-minded coffee drinkers with hand-made coffee based on lighter roasts, while Starbucks nowadays uses automated espresso machines for efficiency and safety reasons.

Starbucks locations serve hot and cold drinks, whole-bean coffee, microground instant coffee known as VIA, espresso, caffe latte, full- and loose-leaf teas (including Teavana tea products), Evolution Fresh juices, Frappuccino beverages, La Boulange pastries, and snacks including items such as chips and crackers; some offerings (including their annual fall launch of the Pumpkin Spice Latte) are seasonal or specific to the locality of the store.

Many stores sell pre-packaged food items, hot and cold sandwiches, and drinkware (including mugs and tumblers); select "Starbucks Evenings" locations offer beer, wine, and appetizers.

Starbucks-brand coffee, ice cream, and bottled cold coffee drinks are also sold at grocery stores.

Starbucks first became profitable in Seattle in the early 1980s.

Despite an initial economic downturn with its expansion into the Midwest and British Columbia in the late 1980s, the company experienced revitalized prosperity with its entry into California in the early 1990s.

The first Starbucks location outside North America opened in Tokyo in 1996; overseas properties now constitute almost one-third of its stores.

The company opened an average of two new locations daily between 1987 and 2007.

On December 1, 2016, Howard Schultz announced he would resign as CEO effective April 2017 and would be replaced by Kevin Johnson.

Johnson assumed the role of CEO on April 3, 2017, and Howard Schultz retired to become Chairman Emeritus effective June 26, 2018.

  5. i go to coffee shops it don't brother me see police there. one person making big deal of it it so strange

  6. Why wouldn't they just show the customer the door? Are there people who don't know social media exists and every stupid thing you do is going out to the world?

  7. You don't feel safe? Are you kidding? I had a restaurant and offered cops free coffee and 1/2 off anything to eat. It made me feel safer to have them there.

  8. How about asking that customer to leave, that poor insecure thing might need a therapist to deal soothe hisher fears..

  9. I Don't think anyone should ask anyone else to leave. But why are 6 police officers at Starbucks ANYWAY? Are you not payroll officers? Why are you not on patrol???

  10. There is no reason for 6 police officer to be at Starbucks in uniform at one time! Not even in the drive THROUGH!!!

  11. The customers should feel more unsafe when ANTIFA smashes Starbuck"s windows. That's how normal people would think.

  12. This is a joke right ??? When I see police officers I feel safe !!! Never going there again !!

  13. St. Ferraro was the bigger guy and forgave them. Frig' that!!! You want to enter into some dialog with these scum of the Earth. Do you think you can actually persuade these Leftist zombies in thinking normally.

  14. Customer should be found and addressed… barista should be fired! I blame this tension on Obama… he rarely backed our officers!!

  15. Kudos to the customer! Maybe his rights or someone that he cares about rights were violated, the way they are every single day by cops all across the country… EVERYDAY!

  16. CRAP like this should not happen in this country. I stopped going to Starbucks long time ago !!! I dont regret it !!!

  17. I wish the cops refused to leave and made a point of staying. What was the employee going to do? CALL THE COPS

  18. The police will hold a gun in your face with a baby in your arms over a broken tail light!!! I wouldn't feel safe with those thugs nearby either

  19. There are too many unhinged snowflakes, in this country. I hope the employee who asked them to leave ,was fired. Obviously in the wrong profession.

  20. You are kidding, right? Blame Starbucks for making a customer feel safe? Uhm…. shouldn’t you be trying to figure out why that customer didn’t feel safe with 6 armed officers in a small coffee shop! DO THE MATH PEOPLE! I’m no rocket scientist, but shouldn’t making people feel safe be the job of the police? Now that the police see how it feels, shouldn’t the campaign be about getting the public’s trust, restored? Not banning the best coffee ever! I have 2 sons who stand over 6ft. I fear the police because of them. They are so darn well mannered, but that’s not enough to keep them safe anymore! Now can we dialogue instead of whining?

  21. They should ask that bs customer to leave instead, at least the is the safest way for that d. Head customer.

  22. Remember when they kicked that pair of black students out of Starbucks because they made a customer uncomfortable?

  23. When I see officers somewhere I either leave or I will not go into a place they don't make me feel safe one officer told me once that one can ruin it for all and the same goes for the police the only time that I will show respect to a officer is if they are in the military or if they have served I refuse to give respect when all they do is take a couple of classes for a few months and put a badge on and think that they are above the law

  24. Wrong. I don't like pig shits neither. It used to be their motto was "to serve and protect" but now it is "to annoy and harass". Sorry but I don't like pig shits attitudes towards "civilians" neither. We have become a police state.

  25. When I was a kid, (1969) I managed a McDonald's in Azusa, Ca. We had an unwritten policy whereby we very discreetly charged police personnel half, if at all. We wanted police presence. Police often did not want nor would they accept our indulgence. The point is that we both respected and valued their presence. I will never again buy anything Starbucks.

  26. I love how Starbucks apologizes for "The Misunderstanding"….. sorry, no misunderstanding. Your employee asked them to leave. Nothing misunderstood there.

  27. Every cop in the USA should do a month long walk out. Then people will see how much they need the police!

  28. I feel unsafe having a Starbucks in my neighborhood. They do nothing but bring hate, segregation, and disparity

  29. You feel safe in police presence because you're WHITE lady! Everyone else of color has to walk on eggshells for fear of being profiled as a criminal. This is the world WE live in today.

  30. Too much crap coming out of Starbucks catering to every liberals whim I am still not using them this just adds to the reasons why.

  31. The person that felt threatened by the presence of law officers tells me one thing! That person has something Major to hide! COULD THEY BE WANTED BY THE LAW? 🤔

  32. And why in the world would anyone want to pay so much for a cup of supposedly coffee that looks like dirty socks were soaked in! It looks like water down mud!

  33. Usually we’re all riled up against the police now we’re rooting for them and defending them, what a funny world we live in 🤔

  34. OK are you dumb white people that don’t see all the shootings happening around the world look at a couple videos before you dumb white fox open your mouth and speak

  35. Yyyyaaayyy for Starbucks at least somebody stepped up to the police if they feel uncomfortable then Duece’s just leave

  36. I'm sure to get flamed for this, but I actually prefer Starbucks over Dunkin and I used LOVE Dunkin… was tired of the disappointing burnt coffee I would get left on the pot, or when I ordered an iced coffee and it literally tasted like iced tea mixed with iced coffee… If I could, I'd have coffee that I had in Portugal. Best I ever had. That said, done with Starbucks after this. And I'm not conservative, but I have several friends who are men/women in blue… I was raised to respect the law and those who enforce it. Strange concepts, I know. eye roll BTW, there was a Starbucks in Lisbon. After having spent over a week having coffee in the cafes and at my cousin's where I stayed, I was excited to see Starbucks and therefore ordered coffee – ew… not even close. You know how great coffee smells, but the taste doesn't usually match?? Well, in Portugal it does.

  37. My first thought is that the complainant feels uncomfortable because he knows there is a warrant out for him , obvious to me .

  38. I make my own coffee at home for about 9 cents a cup. Spending hundreds of dollars a month for coffee triggers me.

  39. Cops are d bags looking for power. Always turning a bad situation worse. I'm trying to help you, Yep helping into cuffs and questioning me trying to charge someone with something

  40. People just aren't safe around Cop's.
They aggravate people for no reason at all.
If the bad one's were locked away, then the good ones wouldn't have to take blame for the craziness that they do.

  41. I honestly don’t care.
Cops just let Antifa attack elderly people, attack republicans, assault people left and right. Bad cops get to be bad cops for so long because OTHER cops don’t do anything about it.

So I don’t agree with Starbucks baristas decision but I do support the right to refuse service to anyone.
That’s the beauty of capitalism; they’ll live or die by it as a company.

  42. So now cops know how it feels to be judge by your looks good because the last time they went to a Starbuck they arrested 2 innocent men
